Daniel Chlebowczyk, aka BERZERK is a tournament competitor and organiser. A former professional gamer, he is also the President of not for profit gaming events group CouchWarriors and currently works in the industry in an esports focused role. A lifelong love of gaming began with the old school of Atari, C64, Amiga, arcades and the glory days of Sega. A multiplatform gamer now, with all consoles and PC at his disposal, he believes it’s important for players to be well rounded in their gaming (and life) experience.
Competitive gaming as a player, commentator and organiser began from playing friends across a range of games, from Doom and Duke Nukem on the school network to finding a competitive home in fighting games. As a player, he won at World Cyber Games 2007 in “Dead or Alive 4”. Was a professional player in the Championship Gaming Series, on team Sydney Underground. The team was second in Pan-Asia 2007, first place in 2008. Competed in the LA world finals both years, an event broadcast on Direct TV in the US.
Volunteering at events and playing regularly has been as vital as working with teams on larger projects, where he has managed PR, Media, sponsorships and guests, or working with conventions as large as PAX Australia or varied as the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Daniel’s freelance coverage of events for ABC TV’s Good Game, creating the “Esports News” sports report. Hosted “State of Play: Competitive Gaming and Esports in Australia” panels at PAX Australia in 2013 and 2014. He wrote for the Age about his experiences in CGS, and covered events for Kotaku and Gamespot.
Passionate all competitive gaming, an advocate of unity and communication in the scene. Daniel believes in the equal importance of every level of play from gatherings of friends, to grassroots tournaments up to major esports events with huge audiences.
